[...] My favorite local activist group, the CCPJ, is holding a bit of political theater today at Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall near the Freedom of Expression Wall. “Big Head” Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice will be on display in chains and with guards to provide a humorous face to the not-so-funny calls for Bush Administration accountability. See Bushchaingang.org for more history and details. [...]

They had just broken ground for the ampitheatre when I moved away from the Ville. What a ghastly eyesore it turned out to be!! In fact, that whole area looks ridiculously compromised now. Sad. When I worked radio there, we put on a helluva lot of great shows there. Good memories.

There is a 3 story parking ramp next to the freedom wall. Much of the media was heading up there as I was coming down.

I was wondering how high you were to obtain the " Look at the Crowd" shot - it was a very good one I think - but what do I know? I am easy to please. ;)

The shots were just so-so. I didn't spend any time playing with the white balance/histos (RAW shots are so nice).

The wall is now covered with profanity and "interesting" artwork but it has started raining, so no new photos this morning...

[...] The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression unveiled their privately-funded, long-awaited free speech monument on the Downtown Mall this morning. The monument consists of a large Buckingham-minded slate chalkboard and a speaker’s podium, located in front of City Hall. Blog coverage is extensive, with The Hook, Outskirts, 2300 Days, Charlottesville Tomorrow, and Mayor David Brown all weighing in thus far. [...]
