A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the village. People will run to the stores for milk and bread (yes, I’ve typed this many times…but nothing ever changes in the village).
I’m predicting it will be Yet Another Bogus Storm (YABS). We won’t get a drop of rain, snow, or sleet. So far this winter we’ve had about 1.75 inches of total snow. If you look the map of the current prediction for this storm, it is clear we won’t be adding to that total.

One could always hope, but I don’t think hope is a word that is relevant to this village.
While out shopping for milk and bread don’t stop for gas…or you might get abducted. Next stop…64.

I am still amazed at how pathetic Virginia really is. The capital of Virginia is not capable of broadcasting their #1 show in HD for a full hour. For the final 15 minutes of the show they must downgrade to the ungodly view of low def television since they are gearing up for the local news.
Can anyone name another state where the capital is not capable of broadcasting a show in HD? Does Lost mean nothing to ABC?
Virginia is so fucking primitive in terms of technology and humanity (ie. KKK in the area, and a hazing incident in Richmond that happened tonite). I really can’t believe anyone likes living in this area. Every year I’ve lived here my blood pressure continues to trickle upward. Is that due to aging, or living in some place that is equivalent to living in a bunker in Afghanistan.
If that mother f*ing ABC station over there in hillbilly hell had granted me permission to get the national feed for ABC on my DTV connection I wouldn’t be forced to deal with this local shit. In that case I wouldn’t truly despise this area and want out. I truly despise Virginia.
WRIC…learn to broadcast in HD. Crapshaw…f*cking do something positive for C-Ville rather than controlling it, local Gray piss-ant stations…turn on your OTA HD signals. Why can’t Charlottesville keep up with five year old technology? Why can’t Virginia compete with five year old technology? Why the hell am I in this antiquated commonwealth.
Broadcast in HD. Stop being primitive. Now…time to visit my outhouse. Virginia is still working on that indoor plumbing issue. Ye haw. I beg you, stop buying anything from anyone that advertises on any television station in this primitive locale.

I wonder if this truck driver was in a hurry to get to C-Ville, since they are saying we will get 3-5 inches of snow this evening (my money is on 0-1 inches). Whenever there is a threat of snow, locals dash to the store to buy milk and bread. Prices skyrocket. Riots occur. Another day in the village.
Look at what happened back on Feb 1 when the blizzard struck. That was a brutal one for the village. I could barely see the road or even the sidewalk.

Update: 9:30pm, Snow has actually started to fall. This is more than I have seen here in several years. More snow has fallen in the past 30 minutes than there is in the photo above.

Since we all knew the Colts would win the bigger question was how many commercials would be in HD. Last year it was less than 20%. Things have flipped this year. More than 80% of commercials were in HD.
I’ll provide the scoop on the “losers” who did not create their commercial in HD one of these days. As for the winner of the commercials, I have to go with the FedEx delivery to the moon commercial.
The most intriguing part of the evening was seeing the Survivor commercials. They were definitely in HD (not simply stretched to fill). Will Survivor finally be in HD? I really don’t know if I can watch it if it isn’t. Zap2It TV listings don’t show it as HD, but their reliability in that facet has been around 90%. CBS lists it as being in high def on their own site. I’ll go with the CBS site on this one…and hope it is right.
Survivor in HD. I can’t wait.
Now, as for C-Ville showing anything in HD…that is a sad story. Comcast (the worst cable company?) promised HD CBS here in the region. Apparently it is working for people out in the county (not reliable), but not for anyone here in the city itself. As for rumors of over the air broadcasts, that won’t happen until the federal law (currently slated for Feb. 17, 2009) kicks in. That is so C-Ville. No truth, no quality, and hopelessly behind the times.

When you think of C-Ville what is the first thing that comes to mind? Ozone? Rich bastards? Exceedingly high poverty level? Houses no one can afford? The worst cable offered in the entire country? Blizzards that never occur? Locals getting arrested for a variety of porn and drug charges? 55 year old prostitutes?
If those topped your list, you clearly are in the minority.
C-Ville, as seems appropriate, is the number one city for diarrhea! Finally, something to be proud of.

C-Ville continues to languish in the HD world. Today the local CBS began to dip in to the HD world. Unfortunately it has nothing at all to do with local consumers. It can only be obtained on Comcast Cable. It seems as if Comcast has a deal going with the local television stations so that they will not broadcast over the air (OTA) HDTV.
I guess Comcast is just the old school UVA favorite…a sugar daddy. Hoo’s your sugar daddy?
Right now, the only way you can watch CBS19 programming in high-definition is with a HDTV cable box from Comcast. — WCAV TV

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 9am this morning until 9am tomorrow. So far there is an unbelievably light dusting of flurries (and estimated 34 of them) on the ground. As the day goes on I’ll bring you breaking news on this storm of epic proportions. Be sure to see live images from the storm region on the live webcam (brought to you by The Hook) on the downtown mall.
Does the village have enough bread and milk to survive? Stay tuned…same village time, same village channel.
Update: 7pm. Nothing has fallen from the sky today. I continue to look out the window.
