The new and improved bus station has opened up today, so you can ride around on CTS for free (all nine people that use it). A pity you can’t go inside quite yet. A pity they couldn’t build a nice one that was suggested years ago. A pity the bathrooms cost an estimated 1 million dollars each.
Water Street is still closed. Construction is still rampant. The upper level is still surrounded by barricades. But if you want to sit on a bench that is protected from rain, life if good. And feel free to jump on a bus…or just walk…it usually takes less time to get to where you want to be.
Pictures later today…

A friend was talking about the transit center this morning and he inadvertently called it the “transient” center. With the only public restroom on the downtown mall and seats in the building that are out of the summer heat and the winter cold I think it may actually become the downtown “transient” center.
I have no doubt in my mind that you have hit the nail on the head. I hope they have a lot of ash trays out on those benches. I wonder if the zambonis can get down there.
Too many cigarettes!
You guys miss the entire point of the excersize. The Pavilion needed bathrooms instead of porta-johns. This was all about getting bathrooms near the Pavailion.
They sure are fancy bathrooms. I think you have to ask someone in City Hall for the key when you want to use it. I can’t wait to see how clean the bathrooms are during a concert. Two toilets. Four hundred people. You got the picture.
Are they going to shut down bus service when a concert is going on? Sounds probable.
I have to agree. I simply can’t see that they’ve planned restrooms plentiful/large enough to handle a concert crowd, in the little area which seems to be alloted for bathrooms. I’d imagine that there will still be need of portable toilets. However, a lucky few will probably be able to use the new facilities. If they don’t mind missing the entire concert, whle waiting in line.
overpriced toilets and underused transit centers forever!!!
