La Cucina has shut down. A pity. It will now sit empty for years and years as we wait for a developer to get approval to put a nine story building on that spot.
Cozy Italian trattoria. Serving exemplory regional dishes at affordable prices. Venture off the mall to try our homemade sausage and tiramisu. Mangiamo!
Anyone willing to bet the new building won’t go up until 2015 or later? Yet another languishing location on the “historic” downtown “pedestrian” mall. Note: Anything in quotes is indicative of C-Ville craptitude.

I ate there three times. It was very pleasant. The service was fine (this is Cville we’re talking about here…) and the food was good — albeit a bit salty — but otherwise unremarkable. Probably why I didn’t return often. I would gladly vote in a Baja Fresh. Fish tacos… mmmmm.
The descirption “good but otherwise unremarkable food” pretty much sums up the entire Charlottesville culinary scene doesn’t it?
Oh, on second thought, the description needs one more adjective to make it right:
Good yet otherwise unremarkable and overpriced food.
I agree with Korob. Land of expensive mundane food. Luckily, people in this town have an attitude issue, so they think everything here is vastly better than the rest of the world.
