Charlottesville police ticket a honda

Charlottesville is notorious for making rapid decisions about new “ticket areas” around the downtown region. In some cases a sign indicating that no parking is allowed has appeared during the day, and a ticket was provided before the owner was even aware of the sign.

When the Norcross Station apartments went in some white lines were drawn to indicate parking spots on 4th. Since that day people have extended the parking region just a bit by always parking two bonus cars behind the last marked spot. Some of us debated the legality of those spots, but we always noted that there was no sign indicating you couldn’t park there.

So for the past year I’d never seen anyone get a ticket for parking there…until Friday. It seems as if those two “bonus” spots are now ticketable. Will a sign go up indicating you can’t park there? Or will white lines get painted for all the other streets that don’t have any? If I were the Honda owner I would fight this ticket.
