For years I’ve been complaining about the piles of garbage that are on the mall every single day. It seems as if complaints have now made it to tribal elders by someone more important…since they now admit that there is garbage everywhere.
Here is a shot of the same street corner from the article, only this was a year ago. Some things never change here in the lazy hazy south.

And one other shot that had rotting meat sitting out in front of the pile of bags (different corner on mall).

I wonder what the penalty for the “failure to yield” (to a bicyclist) ticket will be. Every cyclist I know in this village has at least been clipped by a car.
I still haven’t forgotten when a nurse decided to do a turn on red but not notice me (on a bike) passing through the green light. I enjoyed leaping on to the hood of the car and clinging to the gap between the hood and the front window as she locked up the brakes, and losing grip just in time to land on a lawn.
Staring at a nurse while clinging to the hood was such a Hollywood moment for me.

In what is scheduled to be a record breaking week of heat I’m willing to predict rolling blackouts here in the area. Thousands are still without power from yesterday (how did they survive without being able to watch the Redwings historical victory?).
Not good. My AC has been cranking all day…and it gets hotter for the next week. Ugh. How can humans consider this tolerable? I ran 6.5 miles. I think I lost 10 pounds, but drank 2 liters of water along the way.

As the temperature goes up so goes the crime. A double shooting last night. One dead, one injured. A separate incident involved a poor markswoman. If you can’t hit your target, don’t use a gun…oh wait…never mind…just shoot for fun!
C-Ville is such a great city. After all, we are the healthiest city in the United States (according the the tribal elders). I’m pretty sure gun wounds aren’t included in health stats at the local level.

I’ve heard from a large number of readers who were upset about NBC29 choosing to show some fundraiser rather than a game from the NHL championship. They chose to show the low def fundraiser on their HD channel, and move hockey to one of the subchannels.
Although few here in the south understand the concept of ice or hockey, let’s just say that pissed off a good percentage of their viewers. Which is more important to ratings?
I’m glad I have the NYC feed on DTV. Now, 3rd overtime is cranking up in Game 5. Go Redwings.

One of the more entertaining things to do here in C-Ville is debate when the temperature has passed the threshold of “intolerable level.” Some days it is around noon. Other days 8am. And the worst of all…a number of days where the temperature stays above the threshold.
Today it was around 11am. Time to sit inside with air conditioning and try not to think about it.
For most of the locals around here their brains got toasted when they were young, so they continue to sit outside like lizards, while further reducing brain functionality. Speaking of lizards, when did they become a common species here in central Virginny?
Looking it up it seems like lizards are normal. Perhaps I only freaked out since I never used to see dozens of them sitting around the mall basking in the sunlight. I can’t wait to get parrots, hibiscus, and hula dancers by next summer.
Or maybe my brain has already been boiled by the heat and I am having hallucinations.
