Hmmm… the question never changes. Anywho, I have been saying the same thing. Too early to be 80 degrees here. I am mowing twice a week. At this rate, by Summer we’ll probably have upper 90s or worse, and our lawns will be scorched and dead. If I wanted that, I’d move to Phoenix!
You know I don’t like the term “Global Warming” — how about we call it “Global Toastiness”?
Meanwhile, back at the ranch (in Montana)… north central states are enjoying record snowfall whilst “southern climes” like CHICAGO have temperatures in the mid-80s. I think warming trends are tough to prove (small “average” changes), but erratic weather patterns seem to be on the rise. The weather extremes swing back and forth on short notice, somewhat like my personality on a bad day!
Our current warming trend is rather easy to prove. Physics Today did an entire issue on it. But the oil consumption frenzy continues to grow. Bush is just dying to dig up all of Alaska for oil. If as an option, he would require auto companies to increase the average mpg by 2, we would save more fuel than can be obtained from all of Alaska.
I guess we are just dying to start drilling further north since the ground is still hard enough to place new oil wells.
Even the christian’s know things are melting:
