I got to work at 7am. I got home at 7pm. My a headache kicked in by 2pm. It hasn’t gone away yet. Maybe placing the order for my new (refurbished) 1.42 GHz iBook will make me feel a bit better.

I should have it within a week. I hope Apple doesn’t pull a sneaky move and announce a new one tomorrow (the 2nd day of the Apple Expo in France). Fingers crossed.
Always good to spend money while you have it ![]()

Yahoo—finally! Spend it while you have it.
I am trying, too - I have my eye on an e-Mac
1.42GHz SuperDrive - etc.
1GB SDRAM
Bluetooth Module + Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mouse
160GB Ultra ATA drive
My big dream - I am crossing my fingers.
Good luck with yours - you deserve it!!!
:)
I bought a 250GB hard drive this week. Maybe I’ll get a new computer to go with that later this year. Never know…. I also bought CDs and DVDs long before I actually owned a CD player or DVD player.
Palestar, if you were going to get a new eMac I think I would probably go with a Refurbished iMac G5 1.8GHz/ 256MB/ 80GB/ SuperDrive/ 56K/ 17-inch. It would cost just a bit more, but once you’ve used one of the nice LCD displays on the modern iMacs it really becomes hard to use the old CRTs. Of course, debating which thing is right for you is always a mind wrenching decision.
With the constant rumors of “possible updates” showing up next week, or next month, it is always hard to make the final call on computers!

250 Gig? Yikes, that is big. Of course, in one year that will be small
Thanks for the suggestion regarding “Refurbished iMac G5 1.8GHz/ 256MB/ 80GB/ SuperDrive/ 56K/ 17-inch” . Where would I find one and what is the price.?
The eMac I spoke of is $1,100.00 plus tax.
All this will be moot - of course - if my friend doesn’t co-sign - crossing fingers is a good thing. It was her suggestion to begin with - I loaned her $6,000 10 years ago - so we’ll see. I’ll do it sooner or later - if she doesn’t - it WILL be later!
:)
I have saved a little.
Presently - I have an iMac (Indigo -500 MHz G-3 w/OS 10.4.2 -80 gig HD only 256 MB SDRAM - I am outgrowing what I have. As I’ve said - thanks for the suggestions - If you would show me where to find it - I’ll check it out.. BTW can the HD be upgraded on the G5?
I plan on a digital camera/scanner/newer Epson Printer.- $$$$$$$$$ or so it goes.
You will have your new iBook soon - yeah. Enjoy - enjoy!
Take care and Be safe…Palestar
Today, on the Apple site, I see the following refurbished iMacs (edu price):
Refurbished iMac G5 1.8GHz/ 256MB/ 80GB/ SuperDrive/17-inch $999
Refurbished iMac G5 17-inch 1.8GHz Combo Drive $1099
Refurbished iMac G5 17-inch 2GHz SuperDrive $1249
Refurbished iMac G5 1.8GHz/ 256MB/ 160GB/ SuperDrive/20-inch $1349
Refurbished iMac G5 20-inch 2GHz SuperDrive $1499
[You can always add an external firewire HD later if you need more than 160GB! ;-)]
If you are financing, the monthly cost shouldn’t change much by getting the 2GHz, 20-inch. Think of the increase in happiness! I am pretty sure that the iMac will be my computer purchase for Xmas.
To get there, just go to the Apple Store (http://store.apple.com) and then scroll down on the right side. You’ll see a red “Save” image. Click on it and you get a full listing of goodies that are refurbished. You get the same warranty on those as you do new products.
Doc -
Thanks for the address. I’ll check it out. Trying not to get my hopes up - re co-signer - I just told my friend that I can pay up to $125.00 monthly, Me thinks that she was hoping $300.00. One day at a time…we shall see.
Off to check out the apple site. Stay safe. Later…
Say, Doc -
Does your iBook have LCD display?
I am still checking on the apple site- thanks - I found it easily…
Will be checking it regularly -I do think your suggestion about the G - 5 is a very sound idea.
I am also putting funds into savings - in case - co-signing doesn’t work out…
What will be - will be.
Hope your new toy arrives soon - have fun - and thanks again Be safe…
The monthly payments for a loan through the Apple site are only about $35/month (minimum). Of course, you can pay that off faster. Only problem is, I don’t think they work with co-signers or have much flexibility.
Yep. Laptops have LCD displays too. Once you start using > 17″, the 17″ monitor seems so small. It’s hard to believe 15″ used to be the standard!
I see an 1.42 GHz eMac like you spec’d out above for $899 on the Apple site (refurb). $1100 seems high (plus tax). Where were you going to buy the eMac from? If you don’t mind me asking…

Hope you have your iBook by now and are enjoying it.
I may just have made a wrong decision - I committed to selling my current computer and accepted a partial payment - he would pick it up at the end of October. OOPS! Maybe I’ll be without a computer for awhile- yipes!
I will eventually get an iMac - per your excellent suggestion - My friend hasn’t said NO to this - I am just bidding my time and saying a prayer or two. It will happen when it happens. I certainly cannot feel sorry for myself when so many folks are without homes - clothes - etc.
The eMac I had considered was from Apple - new w/extras like the wireless-airport-whatever.
I’m sorry I seem to have made this about me - when it is your site - and about you new toy. I shall continue on my site.
:)
I’d like you to know - I appreciate your insight and suggestion - it makes a lot of sense to me now.
Take care and be safe. Blessings…Palestar
