I truly despise this village that still thinks it is 1874 as far as technology is concerned. I hate it. Hate. Despise. Can’t stand. Hate. Hate. Hate.
The title says it all. A great day for watching some football and movies.
Last night I just curled up in a fetal position. The daily boredom of Charlottesville was crushing me. Nothing good on TV. Nothing of interest to do in town. Nothing new. With lack of options I played with creating computer icons and messing with resource editors. Do I need to know these things. No. Did I have anything else to do. No.
Am I bored? Yes.
Happy b-day to Johnny J. Don’t get bored now that you are old
Now, time to go get some pizza.

Shot taken in the “musical marshmallow” here in C-Ville on Thanksgiving morning. A bit of tweaking was done by adjusting the levels in iPhoto.
Not a single store is open on the downtown mall…I want some caffeine!
A four day vacation has arrived. Tomorrow I was going to run a 5k, but they charge a ream of money for the race, don’t advertise through traditional methods, and close registration very early, so the elitist Boar’s Head people won’t get my bucks. If it was going to be warm out in the morning I probably would have run it with no number, if you know what I mean. It won’t be warm.
The current forecast is a 60% chance of rain/snow. Less than an inch total. For tomorrow they say the winds could be gusting over 40 mph (although it is supposed to clear up). I think I’ll try to sleep in under a nice warm blanket.
Now, what to do in four days. I just stopped working about 20 minutes ago. The office was rather dark when I left. Me, myself, and I. I did the gym, and am now wondering what to do for dinner. I usually eat around prime time TV, and the big thing tonite is Lost. I was thinking of going out to pick up some Thai food at Lime Leaf, but am rather indecisive right now. With the turkey tomorrow should I do Thai tonite? With Lost on, the Thai sure would taste good. I wonder if Lime Leaf is open tonite (my guess is yes).
The rough part is that it is about a 45 minute round trip (even though it is only five miles away). The C-Ville light/road system is a living nightmare for a small village. I’m always shocked at the fact that when I jog I can often beat a car that is going from downtown C-Ville to the far side of UVA (about three miles).
Enough ranting…I’ll try calling them in about 20 minutes and if they are open I’m getting the Thai. I’m impressed that ABC is running a brand new Lost tonite. Rather shocking. CBS is running a new Survivor tomorrow, and NBC is running two episodes of the Don (aka The Apprentice).
I’ve been so busy with work lately that the 13 hour work days were starting to seem short. I’m not sure I remember how to deal with some time off (I usually work all weekend also…). No work this weekend! I promise.
Now, what will I do for four day? Any ideas? Read? Watch football? Clean the house? Shop at 5am like the other crazy people (not a chance you will find me out there)? Drive an hour to go see Harry Potter at a real theater (C-Ville still doesn’t have one, and the plans for one keep vanishing)?
Or just truly relax and do nothing but watch movies on HBO?
[Update: Lime Leaf was closed! Boooo...looks like some mixed veggies with Lost]

Early evening is a great time since you can never be sure what lies ahead.
Will the Fins have enough players left to finish this game? Three starters out in three plays. The season is over, so it will be fun to see if the latest QB Cleo Lemon (gotta love that name) gets to play this year. Miami still has a shot at getting the number one draft choice this year….
Warm of course is a relative term. For me that means around 55 degrees in the sun.
I did a morning latte and bagel out at one of the local coffee shops. Sitting out in the sun reading the paper (not the Daily “Regress” - our local pile of junk) was pleasant. The Dolphins play in two hours. Will they lose…hopefully not, but I’m not particularly hopeful (although I did pick them in the pool I’m in).
Drizzly weather is on the way. I’m heading out for my 8 miler now. Run, football, pizza - looks to be a fun afternoon. Why must a Monday follow a Sunday?
Three days ago it was 75 degrees. This morning was a brisk 25. Not wanting to crawl out from my warm and comfy bed I forced myself to throw on the sweats and head out to run the First Night 5k. Last year I finished 2nd overall in this race since only a dozen or so people ran in it. This year I also finished 2nd overall among the dozen or so that ran it. I really wonder why more people don’t run in this race.
My time was my typical 21:30ish time for the “downtown” course. I really prefer the courses over at UVA.
Now I’ll take a nice warm shower and then take a bit of a nap. Then I fear some work will show up…
The Fins continue to be the worst team in the NFL. Every game is close, but they don’t know how to win, and don’t have enough desire to win. Today they played a team that had 15 people missing, but still got beat up on for much of the game.
Ever since I moved here to the village the Fins have been a miserable team. I am losing my will to live on a weekly basis, since there is little else to look forward to around here. Only 7 more weeks of this. 4pm…is it time to start drinking?
