I sit here in Belmont trying to relax for the upcoming week. Just like every person here in C-Ville I will put in too many hours, won’t sleep due to stress, and bring work home every single day.
I’d want to relax, but there is a hideous noise emanating from the downtown area. Imagine bumping a possum while driving on the highway. Take that slightly grazed possum and start cooking it like a typical Virginian would (of course it is still alive). If you can imagine the sound the possum would be making, that is the sound coming from the C-Ville Pavilion. It is hideous.
I really wish I could relax rather than listening to it. C-Ville doesn’t seem to care that residents of the area can’t stand the loud obnoxious noises. The village has been bought by Coran Craps. He owns the village. I looked on the web and see that the name of the noise producer is Wilco. They approximate Americana backdrops. I guess here in VA the backdrop sound is that of a possum being cooked alive. Mmm…dinner….
Roger, wilco, over. Please be over.

It was a great show. Really wonderful. Too bad you were forced to hear it at home, though.
Too bad the noise didn’t reach you in good standing. Seriously, Wilco was one of the best shows to hit Cville. Amazing show tonight. If they are the sound of possum being cooked alive, then I guess I might start eating more possum. Don’t write them off so quickly.
But I did enjoy the Coran Crapshaw bit….
James Brown wouldn’t be bad, but it is bad taste to play loud music like that on a Sunday night. People need their beauty sleep, especially the Doc!
I take great offense at your crude suggestion that Virginians cook live possums. We are a people of fine character and genteel manners and we would never do such a ghastly thing. We always wait for some yankee’s car to flatten the greasy suckers and kill them for us and THEN we eat them.
Say y’all my mother was born in Georgia - they wait for the revenuers to come - when there is an accident - they deep fry’em - or they did in the old days - so my grandpa said - but you see - grandpa had a few stills and sampled his own product. Don’t know about the possums.
The thing I do remember is if a Southern women says - bless your heart - be aware of how she is saying it - cause that is not exactly what she means.
This has nothing to do with the greasy possums - thought I would throw it in tho…?
