One might think the title involves fun or more…but alas, it is just a night here in this hell hole of technology where it is hot, humid, and saved. I’m not sure why, but churches seem to have a lot going on tonight. People drove up, parked their car, and lit up a cig. Do churches promote smoking? Why did no one bother to tell the smokers to put out the cigs? I guess God doesn’t care that you are killing children as you smoke next to them since God forgives everyone…or some such story.
I’ll bet you can’t wait to see what another summer of heat does to me.
I want out. Calgon, take me away…to some place that is humane.

I’ve been told that most other places in the world consider smoking to be a national pasttime. I think non-smoking initiatives are greatest in the United States. We
also have a habit of “bathing” in this country, and many others do
not. I think European nations expect better behavior from their
children, but most cultures don’t care. Point: Smoking, smelling bad and rude children are common around the world. Good luck finding a place that outlaws all three. Please tell me if you find such a place!
If you do find such a place, please don’t don’t turn into a flavored coffee drinking, Birkenstock wearing, save-the-world, hybrid car driving pseudo-intellectual “Progressive”
who feels good about themselves for buying a $2 rubber bracelet (and proudly wears it everywhere so we know they donate to worthy causes.) Remain the skeptical, ornery guy we’ve come to know and tolerate. I’m kidding, we actually like reading this stuff somedays.
I am a green tea drinking – non-smoking – non-pumpkin latte drinking - bath/shower taking - Birkenstock wearing - if I owned a car it would be a hybrid person - who has given many of those ‘rubber bracelets’ because they represent the fact that Cancer/Aids/et al are all still prevalent in the world. I don’t wear them to ’show folks I give’ - I wear them to remind people to take care of themselves - be tested. I wear my Superman Tag on a chain to honour Chris and Dana Reeve – to remind folks that because of them there is actually help for differently abled people. It is hard you will find to be narrow of mind if you have an open heart!!!
BTW we ALL have a responsibility to ’save the world’ in own way - starting with how we treat our environment – how we treat others – how WE treat OURSELVES – respecting ourselves and others – being ornery – skeptical and venting – being unafraid to fall into the abyss without a fight to survive – yeh, Doc – tell it like it is – always. I never know what you are going to say – and I pray you keep on keeping on and doing your thing whatever and whenever you choose.
I see that Gatekeeper is back…
I wish everyone could be as committed and honest to what they believe in as you PS. No one will ever accuse you of doing something just to look good. We don’t need more of those people who feel smug because of what they do - rather more people who do what is right and don’t care who is watching. Doc does what he feels is right, he needs to keep doing that.
AMEN to that - I have no doubts that he will continue to shoot from the hip - as he always has. He inspires others to do the same - me for one.
Churches - Oh - Memorial Day, that’s what is going on - a day to honour our service men and women - past and present - alive and dead… Prayers of thanks to them… be safe! Ho!
