A ton of sirens are ringing in the distance right now, probably zipping along Avon. I wonder who hit who and what blew up or caught fire. Guess I’ll find out on the news sites tonight.
As I was walking along the mall I got a tip from the man who knows everything about the village. He told me about the truck drivers getting written up for illegal parking.
Click on the photo for a larger view. The next time you are walking along the mall, be sure to stop by the Country Store and pick up a snack. Those M&M cookies sure hit the spot, or maybe a banana, or a bran muffin. Mmm….yummy.
For my recent pics I’ve changed that to link to pictures I put on my Flickr site. The top two pics are the most recent, and the other two are random. I’ll often upload more than two a day (when I find time/energy), so be sure to hit the front page of my Flickr site for a full listing of recent stuff.
Behind the scenes I made a few changes. Since this site is getting so popular (ha ha) I noticed that comment spambots were beginning to have a field day, so I implemented Bad Behavior which seems to have solved the problems for the moment (everything on the web is just for the moment). There is a chance you are getting an error message when you view this site, but hopefully not.
And last but not least, I backed up the site yesterday. As if that really matters…does anyone really need to see all my “blogging” since 1994?
In my spare time, I’ve been reading through The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers. The author has a pretty good sense of humor. I highly recommend the book.
Now, as for the poll that is still up and running…I can’t believe my 21 loyal readers think that I’ll be here in the village the rest of my life. I was looking at some apartments in NYC and for what I currently pay for my 2500 square foot house I could have a 300 square foot apartment where all the rooms are rolled in to one!
I’m glad the Pistons won game 7 of the series. I’m looking forward to the Lost season finale on Wednesday. I watched grass continue to grow here in the village.
If I had the energy I’m sure I would have mentioned all the news from around here this weekend. UVA parents rolling in to town and spending a ton of money. Every restaurant having “special” menus for the weekend so that a burger costs $18 (except South Street - they are honest this year). Hot days, no rain. A local high schooler in an SUV died due to drinking and driving. A local soccer coach was indicted on child porn charges. Does anything ever change in small town Americana?

(shot taken while driving about 2 miles outside of town)
As the Crapshaw development on the coal tower plaza begins the first thing that happened was the “No Parking — will be towed” signs went up in droves this morning. People that used to park in the region have been told to find other locations.
If you used to park in the area, find a new spot. Maybe pay $100 for a spot two blocks from the mall. What a deal in a village where the most exciting thing to do is watch the grass grow. I wonder if I’ll be able to listen to more crappy music shooting out of the coal tower to match that of the musical marshmallow. Or would that conflict with what will get stuck in TJ’s theater (aka The Jefferson Theater) that was recently bought by the Crap. Is there anything left in this village that he can buy?
Nearly 20 Burmese refugees marched for Democracy on the mall yesterday afternoon. I think they walked past the wall of freedom and got to enjoy the freedom of expression in pornographic pictures and slanderous statements towards others. I’m so glad the Crapshaw paid for that daily laugh.

As the Queen of Hearts in would say, “Off with their heads.” Well Alice, we’re not in Wonderland anymore. Instead we are in Charlottesville.
Witnesses say May was thrown from her car and decapitated.
That is the most Stephen King-like story since I got to this village.
I’m reading a bit more about dealing with RAW images in my spare time. Just for playing I ran around the house snapping a lot of miscellaneous shots to play with. Nothing like playing with junk laying around the house.

The historic downtown mall (circa 1980’s) has gained a speed bump this morning on 4th Street. I guess speed bumps are a typical thing one would find on a PEDESTRIAN mall….right?

As a side note, it really has been funny to watch all the people that still drive right up the road in the wrong direction so they can drop in to Timberlake. The arguments that break out over parking in the road are also hilarious. Someone even yelled at the extremely friendly UPS guy.
I recorded Survivor tonite and am zipping through it rather quickly. When the final challenge was for balance it was obvious who would win before it even started. It is a pity that two losers are the ones that have the chance to win the final prize. I’ll go read about who won rather than watching the rest since it doesn’t really matter.
Fighter pilots rock over people that are listed as “yoga instructor” and “medical sales” (we all know those are just terms are made up by the producers of the show for other professions).
Terry is clearly the winner of this Survivor, and if you ask me a year from now that is what I’ll remember.
