Remember that old game of Dig Dug? It looks like a dean at UVA has “willfully made false material representation by misrepresenting his knowledge of the activities of a known dug dealer.” Although only closely related to the game, a known dug dealer probably has something to do with the game. If he goes to prison I wonder if he’ll sit around playing the game for hours on end.
So I popped over to The X Lounge for happy hour this evening. If you are looking for the place to be, this is the spot. The martinis were fabulous and the atmosphere was like NYC or SanFran. It is smoke free indoors which makes a gigantic difference! It feels intelligent inside.
Once I try the food it may become my new favorite spot in town. Stay tuned for a few pictures tomorrow (or Sunday), and quick review of the food in the next week or two.
Wow. I can’t believe this place is in C-Ville. A bit of modernization trickles in. Now, where is HDTV and where are the stadium seating theaters. And of course, where is reasonable weather. Our forecast for the next ten days averages 98 degrees every day. Go global warming.
Looks like the sinkhole is opening up. This really might be the end of the village. Life here would end if 29 gets shut down.
And another story.
This is the biggest news in the village since the bank robber/bomber/hostage taker guy walked away (still looking for him), a guy fell asleep/passed out on the train tracks and got hit, and the parking rates were increased.
Can the village possibly survive with all this fun?
Could a sinkhole take down the village? What would the village do if 29 had to be shut down? It would be the end of all humanity.
I guess that is a big question around here. It seems that drivers in C-Ville are not clear on the rules about running down pedestrians. Thus, the new signs that have been rapidly appearing over the past two weeks. I’m giving the sign about two weeks before it has been taken out by a car.
Now, what are the rules for people on bikes? Are they fair game?
Is Charlottesville the best place in America for crime? Relative to national averages and small town averages, we are blowing away the competition.
I guess that explains why there was yet another armed robbery attempt last night over on Rio Road (that is pronounced Rye-Oh for those readers not from the village).
Is all this due to poor urban planning? You know, that stuff bad for citizens.
It is rather humorous that a local celebrity (stay tuned for the introduction of the Waldoid here in the coming weeks) made a post today about why some towns suck. Was he stating that C-Ville sucks? Perhaps he was. The post listed:
- “Homes from the 400s!
- highway noise walls
- neighborhood locations described in terms of highway exits
- “traffic and weather together on the 8s
- Fuddruckers
I guess that was referring to the village, since this is what I was thinking just a few moments ago:
- average home price is $277k
- cement walls along the 250 bypass shield noise
- housing now advertises proximity to I-64
- live news on the web, on your cellphone, or on TV at 5AM, noon, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 10pm, and 11pm
- Applebee’s
I didn’t know Waldo thought C-Ville sucked. Perhaps this would have been a better list*:
- No HDTV.
- Movie theaters from the 70’s with sticky floors, stained screens, and the smell of urine.
- Cashiers at all retail establishments with missing teeth and undecipherable accents.
- The local wannabee’s describe it as ‘progressive.’
- Smoking is worshipped as a civil right.
Now it is time to start listening to stories about shutting down a mall for six hours due to a bomber/hostage-taking/gun-toting dude. Does that mean the village sucks? Maybe I should just go listent to the update on the soccer coach of the JV girls team who will be going to trial for child porn possession.

*This list was found scribbled by TJ on a downtown wall. I know TJ is respected here, so I didn’t want to claim credit.
Looks like we have a bank robbery/hostage situation kicking around in the village. Will guns get fired? I don’t know, but on July 4th lots of people got practice firing guns in the air to celebrate freedom, so I guess the guns are locked and loaded.
