Today is the official start of 2006-7 TV season. Rating matter. New shows are in full swing. For some, such as FOX, the season is already old and they are hoping the baseball playoffs will have some large market teams.
Tonight is the series premiere of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Of all the shows this season I’m really hoping this one does well. Aaron Sorkin seems to be pretty good at this type of show. I really enjoyed watching the pilot episode (which is out on DVD) a month or two ago.
CBS is trying another Friends clone with The Class. I always give all new shows a chance, but I’m not hopeful on this one. It will go to the HD Tivo, cause I’ll be watching Prison Break. I wonder if they’ll get out of prison. Or will they get back in? I have no idea, but the show is fun.

Bummer on Studio 60, the episode tonite WAS the one they released on DVD a few weeks ago, so it is already a rerun for me. Guess I’ll be waiting a week for a new episode.
The run was brutal. I just can’t take any more of this heat/humidity down here in the south. Unbearable.
Has any one watched The Closer ? - I like it. I like Monk - albeit less now then the first ans second seasons - Monk is getting obnoxious.
Never got into The Closer. I have heard that it’s good. Maybe it was up against something else I watched, last season?
I liked Studio 60. Shows promise. I hadn’t seen the first ep, yet. Think it will get better, when the character exposition part is more established. Last night was good, but could only be so good, while the goal is still meeting the key players. I’m betting they’ll bring the funny, in spades, in the coming weeks.
Can’t say I’ve watched The Closer. I have a tough time watching shows that aren’t on the big five (networks + HBO). Although TNT is HD…so maybe one of these days.
I think Studio 60 will have no problem making it through the season. Overnight ratings were pretty good, particularly since it was against that beast called CSI: Somewhere.
Vanished is getting close to vanishing…a solid #4 in its time slot last night.
The Closer is with Kyra Sedgewick [Kevin Bacon's esposa] it is above average - I feel.
I am SPOILED - not only do I have Tivo - I have the East and West coast feeds and locals - so even if I want to see something that is on when the CSI or ??? is on - I have 3 choices of times of when I can record or see it. .Thank goodness. I Tivo things and sometimes I am not in the mood - so it may be a week before I get to it.

I became a regular viewer of the Closer during the summer. I quite like it, but then again, I’m a sucker for the “eccentric Southern lady” character types.
My momma was a tall southern lady - from Manor, Georgia - outside of Waycross, Georgia - you have me thinking - perhaps I was drawn to the Closer - partly because of that - could be - but mostly I believe it’s just a darn good show - all of the above probably.
In January - the new 3rd season is beginning - I’ll be watching…
