Since TJ wanted the bobcat story…
A rabid bobcat is running around loose in the outskirts of caca-ville. People are flocking to their homes to avoid getting attacked which is a devastating blow to the local economy. Perhaps we should send the local cat killer after the bobcat..or is he still serving his 10 day prison term?
Elsewhere…a table saw was seen operating in The Nook today. Construction or destruction? Time will tell. Would you like some mayo on your chicken grits? The flashers that have been working in the village for several decades will be retired this weekend. I have a feeling that with something new like this happening chaos will abound this Sunday. Drive carefully…and try not to hit any walls (I run past the broken fence when I’m out for a run…very funny). Tip for the day: try not to build and deliver any mailbox bombs. So Very Virginia.

Two feet of snow up north. Gorgeous. Here in The Ca-ca-ville (thanks for that idea Palestar) we have sun and nothing of interest. Some photos on Flickr by whitkae.
Update: More storm photos are starting to show up on Flickr.

I really wish I lived in a location where a television station could actually broadcast a signal in HD. I can’t believe what a primitive shithole this place really is. The days of existence in hell are numbered…
Anyone that thinks this place is nice is sadly mistaken.

I heard a few things of interest today while out perusing the mall today. One source (who was busy watering the plants while smoking a cig) said that it looks as if the Nook won’t be reopening. It had been sold back in the summertime and has been closed for most of the peak eating season. Originally they were supposed to open up again in August, then September, and then October. Seems to look pretty bleak.
Elsewhere it looks as if the city might be thinking about changing the Sunday flashing street lights on Market and Water Streets. Currently they sit there blinking all day. With the number of people out wandering around it has become pretty dangerous to cross the road (like the proverbial chicken). I remember when I first moved here NOTHING was open on a Sunday. People went to church and then praised to Allah the rest of the day (or something along those lines). Trying to get a latte, a good waffle with fruit, or a slice of pizza was impossible. Since more people from out of town have moved here, more and more stores are open on Sunday. Now, if we could just get city busses to stop at pedestrian crosswalks when pedestrians are trying to cross.
And speaking of things not opening on time, remember when ACAC (the #1 most overpriced gym in America) started their new downtown gym. At first it was going to open in 2004, then 2005, then early 2006, and then they finally printed out a big ad that announced in for October 30, 2006. Well, guess what. It now looks like the end of November is when it will happen. As a guess, I’ll actually go with 2007.
PS. Thanks to all my tipsters. Also to those that dropped me a line as I went pretty thin on the posting the past week. Always nice to know there are others that want to hear more about “the real C-Ville.”

Since the temporary road that runs across the pedestrian mall went in, the traffic flow has been continuous. Trucks love to use it as a nifty shortcut. Buses love to drive through and drop off groups of people. Cars just come through for no reason at all.
Anyway, for those that actually stop and walk across the mall, you may have noticed that with every day that passed the bricks were getting looser and looser. If you reached down you could pull out dozens of them. When a car when over them there was a lovely ka-chunk sound as the bricks rocked back and forth. Today the tribal elders decided to send out a team to work on this.

The original estimate for making this a permanent road (across a pedestrian mall) was close to a million dollars. Today I watched people throwing brick-colored dye in to a cement mixer. The person doing the mixing had a nice city employee shirt on and had a cigarette dangling from his lips during the entire mixing process. The cement eventually made it towards the ground and the loose bricks. As the sun was going down the work was continuing. Will it continue tomorrow? Only half the temporary road was closed today.
I wonder how long it takes to rack up 1 million dollars at this rate. I hope everyone is used to this permanent/temporary road, since it won’t be going away. Long live the non-pedestrian road.

The Fins have now shown that the season is a total waste. They can’t do anything well. The next 11 games will be a waste of time. This season is so representative of my life in this village. There was hope, but reality eventually crept in. It is clear I have wasted my life and made bad decisions to get in to this position.

The village web site seems to have won an award that clearly shows one of two things. 1) The village found some spare money to purchase a few people that should have been spent elsewhere, or 2) The NAG Webmasters (National Association of Government) don’t know what they are doing.
This has been previously discussed here on outskirts as to the fact that the site is not complaint with many things (such as a Mac), and has numerous problems. It took me about eight seconds to get this error today: Server Error in ‘/’ Application. Your actions are considered dangerous.
How many errors can you smart readers find? The fact that the site was created by a group in California that specializes in creating government websites might also have something to do with it. So Very Virginia.
PS. If you want some fun for yourself drop by the site and search for the word Charlottesville. Notice that the very first result that appears is for the “City of Charlottesville” home page. Of course the URL goes to 166.61.234.142:95/visiontemp/index.html. Port 95 with a fixed IP temporary page that the server won’t respond to. Gotta love searching. The second link is to pay bills in the village. Oh the fun…

90 degrees yesterday, but clouds moved in today. It just made it up over 70 today. Evening has settled in and rain has started. It should stay below 60 tomorrow with rain throughout the day. Can it get better than that?
OK…a blizzard would be better, but for the start of October I can live with this. We get so few cool rainy days around here. Time to enjoy that sound for at least a few more hours since it looks like 80’s are back next week.

Virginia seems to be a good hangout for people on the run. I wonder if I’ll come back from my run…or will the dude on the run hunt me down?
I wonder if this guy was a buddy of the guy who shut down the Virginia Tech campus last month as he went running around with a gun.
Update: I just noticed there is a helicopter zipping around over the village. Are they looking in my neighborhood?

As reported here a month or so ago, the Crapster was trying to buy the X Lounge. The rumor bounced around a bit and was snubbed in the C-Ville Weekly last week. In the current issue of The Hook they mention and event that will be held at the to be held at the trendy and recently Coran Capshaw-acquired X Lounge.1
Can this be true? Has the X Lounge drifted away and become crapsized?
I guess time will tell. If it gets opened up to smoking, live band start playing every other night, and prices go you’ll definitely have a good idea. My guess/hope is that it was a typo in the article.
