Today pretty much sums up the village. It is raining for the first time in many moons and the power has been off for a good bit of the day. It has been going off for 15 minute spurts since around 11am. I was on the historic downtown mall getting a latte and half of the mall had no power. As soon as I had my latte the other half of the mall lost power. From this map, looks like up to 25% of the village has no power. No other place in the commonwealth is this short on juice. I won’t even be able to make my green goo if this keeps up.

Outskirts may have to go down for a break if we don’t get power back at some point….
Why can’t this village modernize? Why can’t they buy a new mule? I guess people like this historic way of life.
Update (3:45pm): It also seems as if the C-Ville water main has broken, and there are many accidents on pretty much every road in the area. Gotta love holidays here in Virginia. I sure hope we get power back today. Sirens can be heard throughout the city. Earlier there were three fire trucks on the downtown mall at Rapture (which tries to catch on fire at least once every month).
Update 2 (4pm): We now have a freezing rain advisory in effect. Of course it will be sunny and 65 on Friday. I hope we have power back by then…especially for those merchants that need to sell to those idiots that will go out for green Friday (more appropriate than black).
Update 3 (5pm): It sure would be nice to have some electricity. Outskirts continues to suck energy from the UPS…which won’t stop beeping. Time may be running out. One of these days I have to yank that speaker out.

I ended up getting this http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/218/p/1/pt/30/product.asp to end my frustrations.
If you think it was weird to have power on one side of the mall, and not the other, you should have been at my place. I live on the mall and must have an apartment which splits its electricity source between both mall sides. The power would go off in the front half of my apartment, but not the back half. Then out completely. Then on in the front half, but off in the back half. And so on for most of the day and into the evening, when I finally lost power altogether. Weird Wednesday.
