Apple has style. Can’t wait for the keynote next week. A shot from Christmas Eve in NYC. The store was packed.

3rd Street on New Year's Eve
Shot from New Year’s Eve. Is this what First Night should look like?

This construction (on a half block) was supposed to be done months ago. I’m sure the city went with the lowest bidder and agreed to a pay-by-day plan.

C-Ville 2008

The village is gearing up for the excitement this evening. Kids will run everywhere covering the mall with silly string. I can’t imagine anything more fun than that!

Tomorrow I’ll give you my prediction for what will and WILL NOT happen in the village in 2008.

Update: The photo above got included in the NowPublic story on the New Year getting rung in around the world. Additional shots from the evening were also put up in this set on Flickr.

In case anyone thought we needed additional wine bars in town, both Siip (first photo) and Crush (second photo) are now open. The Siiping bar is really big!

Siip and Crush. There really has to be something funny to be said about that phrase. Maybe it is the name for a new Arnie movie.

Siip

Crush

I’ll get a few more shots up along with the summary of the event later this week…after my head stops spinning like these lit hula hoops.

Spinning Lights

I seem to recall a fight over the issue of who exactly pays to keep all the signs on the mall up to date. Something tells me money went somewhere, but not to update the signs…if you know what I mean. I wonder if the village will now start asking businesses that leave to pay for sign removal.

Can you tell what is wrong with this pair of pictures? Feel free to click on them to see a larger version.

Subway...or 4 Minutes?

After Subway

I seem to recall Subway left about two years ago. Oh well. Perhaps the village assumes people can’t read, so no one will notice.

Historic Crossing

Click on the image to see lots of notes on the beauty of downtown Charlottesville. Garbage. Illegal parking. Discarded bikes. I’m so happy the village elders decided to keep it. The daily beauty continues to astound me.

Everyone who is anyone in Charlottesville is off viewing the world premiere of Evan Almighty on the historic downtown mall. Are you there? I’m not. I’m not worthy of the almighty (or at least the C-Ville elders…who rule this village).

Facing the Storm

Storms were just about to roll through town. They seemed to obey the one way sign.
